Next-Gen Websites. Why what worked 3-5 years ago won’t sustain you moving forward.

In the ‘olden days’ (think 2014), a speaker website was simply an online brochure. Following Google’s Mobilegeddon during the first quarter of 2015, technology began to rapidly evolve, and demand for websites that ‘work for us’ with mobile responsive functionality, multi-media (videos, motion images), e-commerce, memberships, online courses, and more took center stage. But as technology continues to rocket forward and Web 3.0 looms, website design and functionality is about to make another giant leap forward.

Design trends are changing to allow for even better mobile responsiveness and savvy consumers are demanding lightning-fast site speeds, and sites with interactivity like live-streaming, artificial intelligence, and (soon) voice search built into them. The landscape is constantly changing and by the time we actually give this presentation, it will likely have changed again – but one thing we know for sure – what got you here today won’t get you to where you want to be tomorrow.

How to Create a Business that Runs Itself (while growing it by 2x this year)

Guess what doesn’t get talked about enough in our industry?
Systems.
How to spend less on the things you don’t enjoy and spend more on the things you do enjoy.
As a thought-leader, you started your business to create impact, to create content, and to make change.
Not to waste precious time on duplicate entry, lack-luster technology, and spinning your wheels.
When you have systems working for you, your business changes.
You see, though, systems are normally defined only by the technology. But there’s more to it than that.
Systems are the technology, process, and people in your business that create predictable results – they remove the guesswork and create consistency.
Systems prevent the rollercoaster of feast or famine, raise your impact, and create a business that can run itself.
In this session, we’ll uncover how to think about systems in your business, what they should be doing for you, and how to identify the ones you need most to hit your goals.
You’ve already learned a lot about how to make money. You can always find more money.
My question, though, is how do you create more time?

As an award-winning marketer and sales professional, Taylorr’s core philosophy is that systems – the technology, people, and process in your business – are key to your
success. If you want a business that’s predictable, one that you have full control over, one that empowers you, and one that continues to grow, systems are the answer.

On a personal note, Taylorr’s a car enthusiast, musician, and extremely left-handed.

Get Podcast Ready: Five Myths Holding You Back from Success

Podcasting: it’s the NEW stage that all speakers, coaches, consultants and other subject matter experts should be embracing, much the same way they do the physical stage. However many don’t, and what’s more surprising is the same reasons why so many experts who speak don’t get on podcasts (or start their own) are the same reasons they were hesitant to have a website not so many years ago! In this presentation we will talk about:

Nic Steenhout

Easy tricks to design more inclusive presentations

Some disabilities are visible. Most disabilities aren’t. As presenters, we have no way of knowing if our presentations are accessible to all our audience. Our color choices may mean the 8% of colorblind men in our audience won’t perceive our graphs. Our image choices, or not describing critical images may mean someone with low vision won’t understand our point. Maybe our slide transitions and animations will trigger headaches or migraines in some attendees.

It’s important to do what we can to improve the accessibility of our presentations. This practical “tips and tricks” talk will help you design and deliver more universally accessible presentations. Presentations that will be understood by more people. Presentations that aren’t likely to physically hurt others.

Nicolas Steenhout

A developer in the mid-’90s, Nicolas Steenhout was approached by clients facing issues not yet part of the public consciousness. On the emerging web, accessibility hurdles were keeping people with disabilities from engaging with a technological revolution.

Confronted by this gap within the digital landscape, Nic began championing web accessibility. He transitioned into the non-profit sector where he collaborated with people with a wide variety of impairments and was introduced to new assistive technologies.

Twenty-five years on, Nic continues his accessibility work as an independent consultant for both the private and non-profit sectors. Having worked on three continents, he’s engaged with thousands of individuals with disabilities. Blogger, podcaster, and public speaker, Nic offers real-world insight into everyday accessibility issues.

Robbie Samuels

Technique, Not Tech, Leads to Intentional Engagement

When the pandemic began and in-person events hastily moved online – it was common to hear speakers discussing the gear they needed to be successful in this new medium. Quality audio, video, and lighting are important basics, but for most speakers focusing on consistently improving their online facilitation and purpose-first design skills would provide better outcomes than purchasing lots of expensive tech.

All too often traditional event design, particularly in a virtual setting, can lend itself to the most privileged in the room – the loudest, the most confident, the most experienced. Deeper issues of race and gender also affect how comfortable participants feel sharing with the group.

How can we structure our events, so everyone feels welcomed instead of merely invited? What online facilitation techniques could we incorporate to provide participants with enough structure and support so they can engage more fully in the discussion?

These are the questions that Robbie Samuels has been tackling since March 13, 2020 – the date of his first virtual happy hour which launched a multi-six-figure business as a virtual event design consultant and executive Zoom producer. His focus is to reimagine online events, rather than trying to replicate in-person ones.
